Panic gripped the functionaries of different departments working at airports after three suspected patients of Corona virus simultaneously landed at Lahore airport on Sunday.
Sadiq Muhammad resident of DG Khan, Haji Din Muhammad from Lodhran and Sultan Khan r/o DG Khan came back from Jeddah by PIA flight PK740. After landing at Lahore airport, during screening of Corona Virus, Health department and Army medical team isolated them from other passengers due to very high fever.
The said suspected passengers were shifted to Services Hospital for the medical treatment as referred by medical team.
Talking to Pakistan Observer Airport Manager Lahore airport Akhtar Mirza said that the passengers in question were with high fever due to which they were quarantined by the medical team of Federal Health department. Subsequently they were sent to Service Hospital of the city for further treatment.
After detection of virus in passengers at airports of Lahore and Islamabad officials of ASFA and FIA have demanded to cancel their training session and said and that gathering of the officers of any department was tantamount to the suicide.
Reportedly an FIA constable Hassan Nisar was found patient of coronavirus & admitted to PIMS hospital Islamabad last night but the alarming situation is this that training at FIA academy Islamabad is still going on whereas all other training centers all over the Pakistan have been closed through special notifications from the higher authorities. So the lives of trainees of FIA academy Islamabad are at high risk. FIA officers on condition of not to be named said that FIA academy G 9/4 Islamabad may kindly be closed.
Airport Security Force (ASF) will start the proper training of 2500 new recruits at ASF academy from April, 1st 2020. Under the current threat of Coronavirus, such training sessions are not less than committing suicide. Government may take strict action and cancel ASF training so that Coronavirus could be controlled and lives of ASF officials could also be secured.
Though PIA, CAA and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) were busy in sterilization of the airport. But even then officials of different departments were panicked and they were demanding of cancellation of gathering of the officers in the name of training.
It is worth mentioning here that CAA has already closed five major airports for international flights and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) started fumigation at all airports to cope with Corona virus threat. A senior CAA officer seeking anonymity said, “We are already sterilizing our airports, planes, tunnel areas, walkways and other sensitive areas”. A federal team of NDMA reached Lahore airport for fumigation also.
Gloves, masks and other precautions have been provided to the officials concerned to deal with any emergency at Lahore airport.
