LAHORE – Incidents of theft have increased considerably during the revamping of tertiary care hospitals in the provincial capital.

Thieves have taken away outdoor units of three air-conditioner chillers worth over Rs7 million from the Institute of Child Health and Children’s Hospital.

Moreover, copper worth over Rs 3 million has also been stolen from the maintenance department of the ICH.

The administration has constituted an inquiry committee after suspending two employees, namely security guard Raheel and ward attendant Zahid.

However, FIRs have not been registered so far.

ICH Vice Chancellor Prof Masood Sadiq has promised to carry out a detailed inquiry into theft cases.

As per the hospital employees, large-scale revamping has led to theft cases. They feared the emergence of more cases at the ICH and other healthcare facilities in Lahore due to security flaws.
