A Texas woman who was recently found guilty of murdering a professional cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson has been sentenced to 90 years in prison, according to NBC News. The highly anticipated trial involving 35-year-old Kaitlin Armstrong began on November 1 and came more than a year after the 25-year-old cyclist was found fatally shot to death in her friend’s home on May 11, 2022.

Wilson visited fellow cyclist Colin Strickland and they went swimming. Later, they grabbed dinner and drinks before Strickland dropped Wilson off at her friend’s home, where she was found fatally shot an hour later.

According to KXAN, investigators quickly turned their attention to Strickland’s girlfriend, yoga teacher Armstrong, whose vehicle was found near Wilson’s home.

Wilson and Strickland dated in 2021 but were separated and decided to remain friends after reconciling, according to the Austin American-Statesman. However, Strickland’s friendship with Wilson angered Armstrong.

Armstrong was mistakenly released from cus-tody and left Austin, Texas for New York City before disappearing. After 43 days on the run, she was arrested in Costa Rica on June 29 after using a fraudulent passport on May 18 to flee the country.

Upon her return to the US, Armstrong was charged with murder and pleaded not guilty. After a two-and-a-half-week trial, she was found guilty of first-degree murder following a two-hour deliberation from the jury.

Armstrong was apprehended by Travis County officers after a 10-minute chase outside an ortho-paedic clinic, as she attempted to escape officers after a doctor’s appointment, as reported by KXAN.—Agencies
