Federal Minister for Interior and Anti-Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi has said that they would not allow any threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty, and terrorists would be answered in their language.
“Whoever attacks Pakistan will face the same treatment,” said Mohsin Naqvi while talking to the reporters after his appearance before the Returning Officer in connection with examination of his documents related to the Senate elections at the Punjab Election Commission office on Tuesday.
The interior minister said that if Allah wills, there will be success on April 2, and he is thankful to all political parties and friends who nominated him.
He stated that there would be no compromise on terrorism, and those planning against Pakistan would be answered in their language. He said that all illegal residents in Pakistan would have to leave, get a visa, and then come back.
Mohsin Naqvi said that social media is being misused, reforms would be brought in the FIA. “You will see positive changes in the FIA,” said Naqvi.
Naqvi said the country needed better laws to regulate internet free speech, as disruption of social media platform X stretched into its fifth week.
The minister said that there are some challenges at the moment, a wave of terrorism had arrived in the country, and they would, God willing, fight against terrorism. He said accusing someone falsely is wrong.
He said that a campaign is being run against the army and the judiciary on social media, laws of social media are implemented all over the world, after several things in America, TikTok has been shut down by putting a charge sheet, freedom of expression should not be restricted.
“In a country like the US where such things (ban) are taking place, we will also need to review our law and make sure that there is ‘no ban’ on the freedom of expression,” Naqvi added. Mohsin Naqvi said that those who are using social media incorrectly and negatively will have to be seen.
“Expression is fine, but making false allegations against people is wrong — it’s happening and needs to be fixed.”
“We must reassess our own laws and look into what is being misused,” he told the media.
Before this, Mohsin Naqvi arrived at the Provincial Election Commission’s office where the scrutiny of his nomination papers was conducted. Returning Officer Ejaz Anwar Chohan examined the documents.
It may be mentioned here that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi would contest the Senate elections independently, and his proposer and seconder, Khawaja Imran Nazir of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Hyder Gilani of the Pakistan People’s Party, Shafay Hussain of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, and Ghazanfar Cheema of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party were also present on the occasion.
