Renowned scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani Monday said that it was horrifying to even imagine how badly the Islamic rules and values were being violated in political disputes. “May Allah protect all of us from this,” he said in a tweet.

“Allah says in Surah Al-Hujurat that do not make fun of each other. Do not gossip about each other. Do not harbour doubts about others. Do not look for others’ faults. Do not call each other by offensive nicknames,” he referred to the Quran.

“Whether a disagreement is political or ideological, making it an enmity by killing and abusing each other is fatal for the society,” he added. “Criticism is done through arguments, not vulgar language,” he stated.

“Moosa (AS) and Haroon (AS) were also commanded by Allah to speak softly to Pharaoh,” he referred to the Quran again. “For Allah’s sake! Think where we are heading,” he appealed.
