Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari, Pakistan’s renowned tabla (percussion instrument) player on Wednesday gave a soul-stirring performance at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and mesmerized the audience with its varying impact.
The title of the musical evening was “Saaz Samandar” that was in fact a tribute in his honour
Dr. Fozia Saeed DG. PNCA welcomed the distinguished star performer (tabla nawaz) and expressed her gratitude to her for agreeing to perfume on her request.
Belonging to the Punjab gharana (family) of Tabla players Tari is a disciple of Ustad Mian Shokat Hussain Khan, Great Tabla player of the sub continent.
Tari started his career by accompanying great singers like Mehdi Hassan Ghulam Ali, Pandit Jasraj, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Roshan Ara Begum.
Later he developed interest in singing after having training from Mehdi Hassan, became an accomplished singer as well.
The audience was spellbound when the performance started and his skill was evident. He also presented various ghazals.
