T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 25 runs

Kingstown – Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 25 runs in a Group D match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Kingstown on Thursday.

Chasing a 160-run target for victory, the Netherlands managed to reach 134/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Sybrand Engelbrecht was the top scorer with 33 runs followed by Vikramjit Singh who made 26. skipper Scott Edwards made 25 runs, Michael Levitt 18, Aryan Dutt 15 and Max O’Dowd 12 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures and the team ended up at 134/8, losing the game by 25 runs. Rishad Hossain bagged three wickets and Taskin Ahmed two while Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rehman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib had one wicket each. Shakib Al Hasan was named player of the match.

After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh scored 159/5 in the 20 overs. Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer with 64 runs followed by Tanzid Hasan who made 35. Mahmudullah made 25 and Jaker Ali 14 runs. Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren took two wickets each and Tim Pringle got one.
