People of Pakistan sent a strong message to India as well as
the international community that they would not leave their
Kashmiri brethren in lurch in the backdrop of their unprecedented sufferings at the hands of Indian occupation forces. Responding to the call of Prime Minister Imran Khan, all segments of the society expressed their full solidarity with people in Occupied Kashmir during Kashmir Hour observed to highlight the plight of people there and the need for urgent resolution of the longstanding conflict.
There have never been two opinions as far as national stand on Kashmir issue is concerned and this was reiterated during observance of the solidarity hour. At rallies, protest demonstrations and other functions held across the length and breadth of the country, people of Pakistan vowed to continue supporting the just cause of Kashmiris, adding they would not sit idle until Kashmiris get their right of self-determination as pledged by the United Nations Security Council and also the then Indian leadership. The complete solidarity expressed by Pakistani nation must be a source of inspiration for people of Occupied Kashmir who have been subjected to all kinds of atrocities by New Delhi in its bid to strengthen its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir. The Government and people of Pakistan are one in rejecting India’s unilateral actions aimed at changing the demography of Muslim-dominated occupied territory as is being done by Israel in occupied Arab lands. Prime Minister Imran Khan represented feelings of the nation by denouncing Indian measures and making an impassioned appeal to the international community to take notice of inhuman treatment being meted out to Kashmiris and denial of their birth right to them. In the past, at times, our attitude as far as raising of the Kashmir issue is concerned, remained apologetic but in the wake of illegal annexation of the territory by Modi Government, the Government leaders are raising the issue forcefully at all forums as well as during their bilateral contacts with world leadership. Indian policies and actions in Occupied Kashmir are in violation of international law, undertakings given to the UN and the world community and morality. Pakistan and Kashmiris can turn the tide in their favour by formulating and executing a well-knit strategy to expose India’s illegal actions and atrocities and highlight the just cause of 13 million people. The world is expressing worry and concern over deteriorating situation in Occupied Kashmir but there is need to translate this verbal sympathy into action that could help mitigate sufferings of Kashmiris and lead to grant of right of self-determination to them.
