LAHORE – The stamp duties and court fees in Punjab saw big increase under Punjab Finance Act, 2024, as the cost for court tickets soared up to Rs500.
With the new changes, the fee for transferring cases and requesting court records stands at Rs500. Filing an appeal, claim, or supervision now costs same Rs500, while in previous years it used to be less than Rs150.
For cases with an undetermined claimant’s amount, ticket prices have soared from Rs. 2 to Rs. 500. Clients will now be charged Rs. 1,000 for a ticket, which impacts their ability to make claims under consumer laws.
The cost of tickets for rent or eviction requests increased from Rs. 2 to Rs. 500. Additionally, stamp papers for affidavits increased from Rs100 to Rs300.

Stamp papers for sale agreements now stand at Rs3,000. Other stamp prices have risen from Rs100 to Rs. 500. Divorce papers now have a stamp duty of Rs. 1,000.
Fees for returning original documents also soared from Rs2 to Rs100, and obtaining certified copies of court records now costs Rs. 100 per page, up from Rs. 2.
Lawyers and activists denounced the Punjab Finance Act of 2024, and urged government to reverse this decision at the earliest.
