The Sui Southern Gas Company’s Customer Relations Department (CRD) has taken action against residents of Sector 17-C, Shah Latif Town, Karachi, who were found stealing gas through rubber pipes. The CRD team discovered that approximately 6,720 cubic meters of gas per year were being stolen through 7 domestic connections in the area. The illegal connections were dismantled, and appropriate measures are being taken to address the issue. In other regions such as Larkana, Jacobabad, and Shikarpur, SSGC’s anti-gas theft raiding teams have also dismantled over 15 illegal underground and overhead domestic connections.

The teams removed rubber pipes and clamps used in the theft operations, and claims for theft will be raised accordingly. Additionally, the Sindh High Court, after considering arguments presented by the SSGC Counsel, rejected the post-arrest bail application of accused Mairaj-ud-Din and ordered his imprisonment. Mairaj-ud-Din was found guilty of causing a loss of Rs. 3,125,000 to SSGC by stealing gas to operate his New Karachi hotel. He was named in an FIR filed at the SSGC Police Station.
