South Korea beat Saudi Arabia to reach final of WAFF U-23 C’ship

Hosts Saudi Arabia have failed to reach the final of the WAFF U-23 Championship after they lost 1-0 to South Korea on Saturday night at Al-Fateh Stadium in Al-Mubarraz.

In Tuesday’s final at Al-Fateh Stadium, the Korean team will meet Australia, who overcame Egypt on penalties after their semifinal finished in a 1-1 draw.

Garang Kool gave Australia the lead from the penalty spot after 15 minutes, but Egypt equalized thanks to Jake Hollman’s own goal only seven minutes later.

In the penalty shootout, Egypt converted only one of five kicks while Australia managed two successful efforts to progress to the final.

Saudi Arabia and Egypt will also meet on Tuesday to decide who finishes third in the tournament.—APP
