A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred and four terrorists were killed during a gunfight between the security forces and the militants following an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in the Bajaur tribal district Sunday wee hours. An alleged terrorist was also apprehended by the forces.
Reports say the Pakistan Army led security forces conducted an IBO on the reported presence of terrorists in the general area of Charmung of Bajaur tribal district, that led to a bloody shootout between the forces and the militants who offered resistance.
The skirmish led to the martyrdom of a soldier while four insurgents were also gunned down by the security forces that also got hold of a terrorist in injured condition. Besides, weapons, ammunition, and explosives including a suicide vest were also recovered from the terrorists.
“On the night between 12 and 13 August 2023, security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation in general area Charmung, Bajaur District on reported presence of terrorists. During the conduct of operation, intense fire exchange occurred between security forces and terrorists. During the operation, four terrorists were sent to hell while one terrorist was apprehended”, says an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) communiqué issued on Sunday.
It said weapons, ammunition and explosives including a suicide vest was also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens, especially suicide explosions. During intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Muhammad Shoaib 24 resident of District Kohat, having fought gallantly embraced Shahadat.
