ISLAMABAD – Tax relief on solar prices will help Pakistanis getting relief while shifting to green energy as government announced reliefs on import of solar panels in Budget 2024-25.

The PML-N led government announced relief on import of solar panels. According to budget documents, relief is being given on the import from production of plants, machinery, and related equipment and raw materials and components used in the production of solar panels, inverters, and batteries to meet domestic requirements and generate income.

With this move, valuable foreign exchange can be saved, and it will boost the industry to cut emissions.

People earlier expected inverters subject to 18% sales tax. Chinese investors suggest imposing import duties on fully built-up solar panels to support local manufacturers.

Furthermore, the government has made no changes to net-metering policy following recent concerns.
