Sindh cities sizzle at 52°C as heatwave continues to prevail

KARACHI – Heatwaves will likely persist in most districts of Sindh on Wednesday and Thursday. Gusty winds in the afternoon will likely provide some relief from the prevailing harsh weather conditions.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave will likely affect the upper parts of the country tonight.
Under these conditions, heatwaves will likely persist in most parts of Sindh during the next two days. Hot and humid weather is likely in Karachi and other coastal areas. Gusty/dust-raising winds are possible in Karachi, Thatta and Badin during the afternoon which will provide some respite from the prevailing heatwaves.
Karachi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 37-39°C on Wednesday and 36-38°C on Thursday.
Hyderabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 47-49°C on Wednesday and 46-48°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed in Karachi and coastal areas.
Jacobabad remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 52°C. Maximum temperature in Dadu, Larkana and Mohenjo-Daro was recorded at 51°C, Khairpur, Nawabshah and Sukkur at 50°C, and Rohri and Padidan at 49°C.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 55 per cent.
In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 26 per cent.
