Dadu and Nawabshah sizzled at 47°C as hot and dry weather prevailed across Sindh on Monday.

Maximum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 42°C and in Hyderabad at 45°C.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicting the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most districts of Sindh on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hot and humid weather is expected in Karachi and other coastal areas. However, windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated rain is expected in Tharparkar, Mithi, Umerkot, and Chhor.

Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 39-41°C on Tuesday and 40-42°C on Wednesday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 42-44°C on Tuesday and 43-45°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, medical experts have advised taking necessary measures to avoid heat-related health hazards.

“Avoid going outdoor, especially at noon and in the afternoon. If unavoidable, use umbrellas, caps and sunglasses while going outdoors. Consume abundance of water, avoid caffeine and sugary drinks and refrain from vigorous physical activities”, said Dr Abdul Rauf, a family physician running clinic in Lahore’s Usman Gunj. He suggested taking extra care of children and elderly people. “On symptoms of heatstroke, immediately take the patient to the hospital”, he advised.
