A division bench of Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday accepted the bail application of former federal minister and PTI stalwart Shehryar Afridi in the GHQ attack case.

The bench, consisting of Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu and Justice Saleem Safdar Shahid, accepted the bail pleas of five other suspects in the case as well. Defence lawyer told the court that Afridi was not even nominated in the case.

He went on to say that another case of a similar nature was registered at I-9 police station of Islamabad. “However, he has been granted bail in the case,” he informed. Like hundreds of other PTI leaders, Afridi had been arrested following incidents of violence on May 9.
