Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) marked its 57th Foundation Day in Mirpurkhas with a vibrant ceremony led by Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon. In his address, Memon celebrated the legacy of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the party’s founder, who he credited with giving farmers, laborers, women, and youth their rightful place in Pakistan’s sociopolitical fabric.

Memon underscored Bhutto’s pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s global standing, citing his contribution to making the country a nuclear power—a move that, according to Memon, cemented Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
He also lauded Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the nation’s first female Prime Minister, for her groundbreaking initiatives, including the establishment of the first women’s bank and police station, furthering women’s empowerment. Reflecting on the sacrifices of the Bhutto family, Memon said, “The Bhuttos have always stood with the people, even at the cost of their lives.”

He highlighted Benazir Bhutto’s ultimate sacrifice on December 27 and her unyielding commitment to the nation’s progress. Memon also praised Asif Ali Zardari for his efforts as President, including his apology to Balochistan’s people through the Huqooq Balochistan program and the initiation of the transformative Thar Coal project.

He credited Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his leadership as Foreign Minister, particularly his bold stance against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and his ambitious flood relief initiative to construct 2.1 million houses.
The senior minister addressed the ongoing challenges faced by the PPP, dismissing conspiracies and media trials against the party. “The PPP’s commitment to public service has always triumphed over opposition,” he stated, emphasizing the party’s enduring popularity in Sindh.

He also highlighted the legislative achievements of Asif Ali Zardari, including the 18th Amendment, which restored provincial rights, and the launch of the Benazir Income Support Program. Memon attributed the election of PPP mayors in cities like Karachi and Hyderabad to the party’s focus on public welfare.

Memon spotlighted the Sindh government’s investment in healthcare, which attracts patients from across the country for free treatment. He also noted the $1 billion investment in Thar Coal, now a key source of electricity for the nation. Other PPP leaders, including Provincial Ministers Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Mir Tariq Talpur, and MNA Mir Munawar Talpur, reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s mission.
