A nasty collision between Shan Masood and Sar-faraz Ahmed disrupted the game and left Pakistan’s newly-appointed Test team captain injured during the second semi-final of the Pakistan Cup 2023-24 between Karachi Whites and Multan at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

While Karachi Whites were defending 281-run target against Multan, a crucial moment arose at the 8.2 overs mark, with Multan at 34/2, when Sohaib Maqsood struck the ball high into the air. Both Masood and Sarfaraz sprinted to claim the catch, resulting in a severe collision.

While Sarfaraz managed to get back on his feet after the collision, Masood appeared to be in considerable discomfort, clutching his ankle in pain. Masood walked off the field, leaving everyone concerned about the severity of his injury.

The collision between the two players momen-tarily halted the game as medical assistance was brought onto the field to attend to Masood’s injury. Prior to the incident, Masood scored quick-fire 41 runs off just 38 balls during the first innings.

Karachi Whites went onto win the game by 43 runs and Masood posted the pic of the aforemen-tioned incident on his social media account with a funny caption addressed toward Whites’ skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.

It is worth noting that PCB has appointed Masood as the Test captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team on Wednesday till the end of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. His first assignment as captain will be a three-match Test series against Australia in Australia starting from 14 December, 2023.—Agencies
