Pakistan Super League fans have been sent into a frenzy with reports linking Shahid Afridi with a sensational return to Peshawar Zalmi.
Shahid Afridi, one of Pakistan’s most recognised cricketers, last appeared for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in 2017 before parting ways and continuing his journey with Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators.
It is, however, understood that the former all-rounder will only suit up once for the “Yellow Storm” for the exhibition game against Quetta Gladiators on February 5th. The chances of the 45-year-old returning on a full-time basis are slim.
The exhibition game between Quetta and Peshawar will be played at Bugti Stadium where Afridi recently had an enclosure named after him due to his services to Pakistan cricket.
Bugti Stadium was also in the running to be one of the hosting venues for the upcoming PSL 8 season before that plan was jettisoned.
Zalmi’s newly-appointed captain Babar Azam will also join the star all-rounder with Punjab’s interim sports minister Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Haris, Danish Aziz and Saim Ayub also in the lineup.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, Umar Akmal, Iftikhar Ahmed, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain will be among the players turning up for Quetta.
Season 8 of the Pakistan Super League will begin on February 13 with defending champions Lahore Qalandars taking on former champions Multan Sultans in the opener.
The final will take place on March 19 in Lahore.
