KARACHI – The Election Tribunal has accepted the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his son Zain Qureshi for the NA-214 constituency in Umerkot.
Election Tribunal Judge Justice Adnan-ul-Karim passed the order after hearing arguments of the counsels representing both father and son.
They had challenged the decision of the returning officer regarding rejected of their nomination papers for NA-214.
In addition, in response to appeals against the decision of the Returning Officer, the Election Tribunal has granted permission to Haleem Adil to contest elections from NA-238 and conditional permission to PPP candidate Murtaza Iftikhar Baig for NA-241.
Justice Adnan ul Karim had observed, “If dual citizenship has ended, submit a sworn statement. If the sworn statement is proven false, success will be revoked after winning the election,”.
The Tribunal also granted permission to PTI candidate Arsalan Khalid from NA-241 while accepting his appeal.
