Khuda Bux Brohi Thatta
At least seven commuters were killed and 15 others suffered injuries after a passenger van collided with a truck near Jharak in Thatta district, witnesses and police said. Rescuers and police rushed to the spot for rescue and relief work.
Witnesses began rescue activities to pull the bodies and the injured from the van’s wreckage. The ill-fated van was heading to Thatta from Hyderabad at the time of the incident. The injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals. According to rescue sources, a passenger van from Hyderabad collided head-on with a truck.
Two women, four men and a girl were among those who died in the accident. The injured and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to Civil Hospital, Jhirk. Those who were critically injured were shifted to a Hyderabad hospital after first aid.
The victims were promptly transported to the Jhirk Rural Health Centre, and those in critical condition were further transferred to hospitals in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Makli. Among the deceased are Nadir Ali Brohi from Shadad Kot, Ghulam Hussain Memon from Kotri, Mukhtiar Ali from Thatta, Zawar Fakhar Ali from Hyderabad (an operational manager at the National Bank Makli), and Hajran from Sajawal.
The injured include advocate Rahila Bhutto, Noor Jahan, Ghulam Mustafa, Azeeza, Sabir Ali, Abdul Sattar, Shuban, Qurban, Sikander, and Kareem Bux.
Dr. Muhammad Fakhre Alam, the Chief Secretary of Sindh, has taken swift action, directing the Commissioner of Hyderabad division to investigate the details of the accident.
Additionally, he instructed the DC of Thatta to provide immediate and necessary medical support to the injured. Former MPA on PS 78, Haji Ali Hassan Zardari, expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incident and extended his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families.
