Pakistan Peoples Party’ (PPP) leader, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has said that the government’s ordinance about open ballot in the senate elections is an effort to influence and pressurize the Supreme Court which is hearing a case in this regard.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that this government’s action will give the perception that the judiciary is not independent in its decisions. He asked the Bar councils and the lawyers associations to take a straight stance on this issue.—INP
