LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf on Saturday announced country-wide protests against alleged rigging in elections, prompting authorities to put law enforcement on high alert.
Cops in the capital Islamabad heightened security in the metropolis and prohibited gatherings in anticipation of nationwide protests organized by Imran Khan’s PTI who lamented election fraud.
Police have increased patrolling, set up additional checkpoints, and warned of potential traffic congestion near F-9 Park.
Islamabad residents are advised to carry their ID documents and cooperate with authorities.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has designated over 30 locations in Punjab for protests and similar events are planned in Sindh, including in Thatta, Jamshoro, and Hyderabad, with Haleem Adil Shaikh leading some rallies. In Karachi, a PTI protest will take place outside the Karachi Press Club.
