ISLAMABAD – Cloudy weather with scattered rain is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over upper/western parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm and snowfall over hills is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday night. Cold and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country. Smog/fog (in patches) is likely to prevail in isolated plain areas of Punjab.
On Saturday, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over hills is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north/north-eastern Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Cold and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country. Smog/fog (in patches) is likely to prevail in isolated plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning/night.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06°C on Saturday and 03-05°C on Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Smoggy/foggy conditions persisted in patches in plain areas of Punjab. However, rain- thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 08°C below the freezing point.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 05°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 50 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 09°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 37 per cent.
