According to details, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali NasirRizvi chaired meetings regarding the security of processions and gatherings during Muharram ul Haram and to protect Chinese citizens, a public relations officer said.
He said that the meetings were attended by DIG Security Mohammad Javad Tariq, DIG Headquarters Syed Mustafa Tanveer, and other senior police officers.
During the meetings, IGP Islamabad reviewed the measures taken to ensure the safety of citizens participating in Muharram gatherings and processions, including traffic management and other precautions. He emphasized that all police officers should diligently and wholeheartedly perform their duties to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram ul Haram.
Furthermore, he instructed all officers to prepare a comprehensive and effective security and traffic plan for Muharram. Effective arrangements should be made for car and motorcycle parking during large processions and gatherings in the city, and traffic flow should be maintained on highways for the convenience of citizens.
IG Islamabad stated that Islamabad Police are working day and night to make the federal capital an exemplary and safe city. He emphasized that all Islamabad Police officers are present in the city 24/7 to protect the public and perform their duties.
He further mentioned that in recent months, the crime rate in the federal capital has significantly decreased due to effective measures taken against criminal elements.
IGP Islamabad also reviewed the performance of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) established for the protection of Chinese citizens. He issued orders to senior police officers to review and enhance the security provided to Chinese citizens.
Earlier, on the orders of IGP Islamabad, the SPU was restructured along modern lines, and additional police officers were assigned to it.
He emphasized that the security of foreign citizens, ambassadors, foreign delegations, and their property are among the top priorities of Islamabad Police.
