RAWALPINDI –Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk called on Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters on Wednesday.
In a statement, the army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations ISPR said high-level talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on regional security, defence cooperation, and areas of mutual interest.
During the discussions, H.E Overchuk and Gen Asim expressed strong commitment to reinforcing the long-standing defence ties. Army Chief reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to nurturing these traditional military relationships, recognizing Russia as a key partner in regional stability.
Two sides also discussed regional security dynamics, particularly in the context of current global challenges, and emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation to address emerging threats and foster peace across multiple sectors, particularly in defence and counterterrorism.
The visiting dignitary acknowledged crucial role played by Pakistan Armed Forces in fight against terrorism. He also praised their tireless efforts in ensuring peace and stability within the region, highlighting their contribution as a stabilizing force.
Deputy PM and COAS also reaffirmed resolve to further strengthen security and defence cooperation across multiple domains, vowing to continue working together towards shared regional goals.
