Celebrating the Independence Day, Karachi’s Polo Ground (Bagh-e-Jinnah) came alive with the “Run for Pakistan” event, drawing thousands of participants, including international athletes, in a vibrant display of national pride and unity. Organized by Sports in Pakistan, the event featured a scenic 7KM loop that highlighted Karachi’s landmarks, including I.I. Chundrigar Road, Native Jetty, and M.T. Khan Road, with the route concluding at Habib Public School before returning to the starting point.

Deputy Commissioner South, Captain (Retd) Altaf H. Sario, attended as the chief guest. Participants had a range of distances to choose from, including 21.1K (Half-Marathon), 14K, 7K, and 1K (Walk), catering to runners of all abilities.

The event aimed to promote unity, health, and fitness among Pakistanis, while fostering international friendships and sportsmanship. “We are thrilled by the remarkable turnout for the ‘Run for Pakistan’ event, which captures the essence of national pride and unity,” said ShoaibNizami, CEO of Sports in Pakistan.

“This event demonstrates the ability of sports to unite people and inspire positive change. We are especially pleased to see international athletes joining us in celebrating our independence, making this a truly global occasion.”

The inclusion of foreign athletes lent an international dimension to the event, enhancing cross-cultural exchange and camaraderie among participants from various backgrounds.

As participants crossed the finish line, they carried with them a deep sense of pride and collective achievement, reflecting the true spirit of Pakistan’s Independence Day. This year’s success sets the stage for an even larger and more spectacular event next year, continuing to foster a healthier, more unified, and globally connected Pakistan.
