KARACHI – The number of Roshan Digital Accounts has crossed 700,000 mark, showed the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The central bank reports that 10,168 Roshan Digital Accounts were opened in the month of June 2024.
During the fiscal year 2024, a total of 126,893 accounts were opened, bringing the total number of Roshan Digital Accounts to 712,778.
Data revealed that $20 million were deposited into Roshan Digital Accounts in June, whereas, $2 billion were deposited throughout the fiscal year 2024.
From September 2020 to June 2024, a total of $8.25 billion were deposited in this type of accounts.
The State Bank also states that of the deposited amount, $52.1 million were used locally, and $1.61 billion were withdrawn from the accounts.
Roshan Digital Account is a major initiative of central bank, in collaboration with commercial banks operating in Pakistan. These accounts provide innovative banking solutions for millions of Non Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), including Non-Resident Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders, seeking to undertake banking, payment and investment activities in Pakistan.
