The University of Okara’s (UO) Public Relations Office organized a special lecture of the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) RenalaKhurd, Adnan Gul, who share practical experiences and insights with the students on the ‘Role of Youth in Combating Crimes’.

The session was attended by the faculty members and students of various departments including International Relations, Political Science, Education, Islamic Studies and others. The faculty members, who participated in the event, included Dr Abdul Ghaffar, DrShehzad Ahmed, DrFakharaShahid and UsmanShamim.

Gul started his lecture by explaining the significance of youth in social change. He argued, “More than sixty percent of our population consists of youth and our mission is to engage them actively in helping the police to identify and book criminal elements from the society.”

He also shared the police department’s vision of bridging the gap between society and police and introducing the concept of community policing.

Gul vowed to serve the students and general public with an open-door and open-heart policy. He encouraged the students to become vigilant and responsible citizens and work on eliminating various social vices that eventually lead to crimes.

The event concluded with a note of thanks by the Additional Registrar, JamilAsim, who requested the ASP to make the police-students interactions regular. He also talked about changing human behaviors for a crime-free society.

As part of the UO’s vast plantation drive, the ASP engrained plants and hailed the university administration’s efforts to ensure maximum greenery at the campus.
