River Indus runs in medium flow

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that at present River Indus at Kotri was flowing in “Medium Flood” with discharge of 429,000 cusecs against yesterday’s 509,000 cusecs. According to daily FFC report on Thursday all other main rivers i.e Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej including River Indus at rest of its control structures are discharging normal flows.

Tarbela Reservoir is being maintained at its Maximum Conservation Level of 1550.00 feetSince August 28, 2022. Present water level in Mangla Dam is 1192.95 feet against its MCL: 1242 feet (46.91 % storage still left). The combined live storage of country’s three major reservoirs (Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla) is 9.990 MAF which is 74.21% of total value of 13.461 MAF.

Yesterday’s well-marked low-pressure area over Northwestern Madhya Pradesh (India) and adjoining areas has remained stationary while weak seasonal low continues to prevail over Western Balochistan. Moderate moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating into Pakistan (Southern Punjab and Southeastern Sindh) upto 5000 feet.
