Amid the disastrous monsoon rains, parts of Pakistan saw chaotic scenes and one such incident occurred in Bahria Town Rawalpindi where a young girl was swept away by floodwaters.
The woman was identified as Hamra who was drowned in a drain in Bahria Town Phase 6 earlier today. The incident happened while she was riding her scooter to work.
CCTV footage shows strong current taking away the girl as she lost control of her scooter. She fell into the storm drain and was carried away into a nearby nullah.
Rescue 1122 teams swiftly started search and rescue operation and found her body after 8 hours.
Rawalpindi Commissioner declared rain emergency due to heavy rainfall forecasts in garrison city. Triple One Brigade is on alert with boats prepared for rescue operations.
