ISLAMABAD – The administration has sealed several key locations in garrison city of Rawalpindi amid heavy deployment of security officials ahead of the PTI protest today, Friday.
To prevent the Imran Khan-led party from protest at Liaquat Bagh, the Rawalpindi administration has completely sealed the city with containers. No traffic can enter the city, causing significant difficulties for residents.
A large number police officials has been deployed across the city while Section 144 has also been imposed, banning all kinds of gatherings.
Major Intersections Closed in Rawalpindi
The Faizabad to Murree Chowk route has been completely sealed. All entry points on Murree Road, including Liaquat Bagh Chowk, Committee Chowk, and Asghar Mall Chowk, are also closed.
Other areas, such as Chandni Chowk, Rahmanabad Chowk, Sadiqabad Chowk, and Shamsabad Double Road Chowk, have also been sealed.
Small lanes leading to Murree Road have also been sealed with barbed wire while all educational institutions on Liaquat Road, Iqbal Road, and Sixth Road have also been closed.
Police officials have also closed markets in the certain areas to avoid any untoward situation. Furthermore, police officers equipped with heavy tear gas shells have also been deployed.
Due to the closures of key routes such as Murree Road, Liaquat Bagh, and Rawal Road, a low attendance has been observed in government offices.
All entry points to Rawalpindi are blocked. Entry from Tarnol GT Road, the motorway, and Rawat GT Road into the city is completely barred. Similarly, routes from Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Taxila, and Khurrianwala to Rawalpindi have also been sealed off.
