ISLAMABAD – A local court on Thursday extended for another three days the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesperson Raoof Hassan in a case related to anti-state propaganda.

The police produced Raoof Hassan before the court after completion of his initial two-day remand.

As the hearing commenced, an Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor asked the court to give more time to investigate Raoof Hassan.

The court accepted his plea and allowed extension in the physical remand of  Raoof Hassan regarding his alleged role in anti-state propaganda.

On July 22, the Islamabad police had arrested PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and Information Secretary Raoof Hasan from the party’s headquarters in sector G-8.

The police carried out raid due to ‘solid evidence’ that the PTI secretariat was being used as a center for an international disinformation network through its digital accounts.

The police took the computers, CPUs and other documents from the PTI secretariat during the raid. The sources said that the police were now scrutinizing the documents and material recovered from there for further investigation.
