RIYADH – Muslims in Saudi Arabia and parts of the world are observing the holy month of Ramadan and the faithful are gearing up for spiritual practice for the last Ashra of the Islamic month known as Itikaf in which individuals seclude themselves in a mosque for worship and devotion.
Itikaf in Islam’s holiest site Grand mosque holds key importance and is dream of every Muslim. In Mecca, Muslims go to Grand Mosque with their luggages for Itikaf and spend whole Ashra worshiping in the mosque until the end of month.

Registration for Itikaf in Grand Mosque is set to start next week, Saudi authorities said in a recent announcement.
General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced that registration will start on the 7th of Ramadan and will continue until all spots are filled.
Those who are willing to agree to follow the rules, and regulations of Grand Mosque will observe Itikaf. Authorities said the applicants must be 18 years old.
Interested people can register themselves through the Presidency’s portal dedicated to two holy mosques, with the window remaining open for days.
Ramadan is the peak season for pilgrimage, at the Grand Mosque, as tens of thousands of worshippers flocked to Kingdom to rake in most blessings.
Saudi authorities also implemented several measures to ensure smooth and comfortable experience for worshippers during busy period.
