Rain predicted for Lahore, Murree, parts of Punjab during weekend

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rains and isolated hailstorm with snowfall over mountains for Lahore and parts of Punjab on Saturday and Sunday.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely enter western parts of the country on Saturday night. It may grip most upper parts of the country on Sunday.

Under these conditions, rains and isolated hailstorm are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the weekend. Rains and snowfall are likely in Murree, Galyat and surroundings during the period. Gusty winds are also expected in southern districts of the province.

Murree’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 00-02 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

Lahore’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 08-10 C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in Murree, Galyat and surroundings.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province where the temperature dropped to 01 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 57 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 45 per cent.
