The Punjab province has reported as many as 244 new cases of dengue virus with one death during the past 24 hours on Monday.
According to Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, out of the total 244 dengue cases, 186 cases were reported in the provincial metropolis Lahore, during the past 24 hours.
In Punjab so far 18,479 dengue hemorrhagic fever cases have been reported in the current season, the health secretary shared and added that Lahore has reported 13,812 cases of dengue fever.
The viral disease has claimed 69 lives in Punjab in the current season so far, said the secretary and added that the one death was reported in Lahore on Monday.
Imran Sikandar Baloch said that currently 2,143 patients of dengue fever have been admitted to hospitals across Punjab province, adding that 1,511 patients are undergoing treatment in Lahore hospitals.
The secretary said that water should not be allowed to accumulate in residential areas, adding that the health department teams inspected 280,825 indoor places across Punjab.
He said the teams of health department across Punjab inspected 63,075 outdoor places. The officials destroyed larvae from 1,130 indoor and outdoor locations across Punjab.
The secretary pointed out that the surveillance teams inspected 61,394 indoor and 8,967 outdoor locations in Lahore. He said that larvae were destroyed from 829 indoor and outdoor places in Lahore.
The health secretary appealed to the people to take precautionary measures against dengue along with corona. He also appealed to all religious scholars to provide awareness about dengue to the worshipers coming to mosques.
Keep your surroundings clean while proving to be. Do not allow standing water inside or outside the house. People should play an important role in preventing the spread of dengue mosquitoes by taking care of hygiene.
Meanwhile, Imran Sikandar Baloch claimed said that due to effective measures taken by the Punjab Health Department, the number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has come down significantly.
He said that all citizens should ensure precaution, especially in corona. Only through vaccination and precaution we can control the coronavirus outbreak. The government has been utilising all-out resources to vaccinate people over the age of 12 years.
The secretary informed that during the past 24 hours, 125 new cases of corona have been reported from across the province, adding that the total number of Corona cases in the province has risen to 441,186. So far, 421,223 patients across the province have returned to their homes after full recovery from the disease in government hospitals.
He said that the total number of active cases of Corona in the province has reached 7,018. During the past 24 hours, 3 persons lost their lives due to Corona in the province –two in Rawalpindi and one in Lahore.
With the three death, the total number of deaths due to corona in the province has reached 12,946. In the past 24 hours, 54 cases of corona have been reported in Lahore. Eleven cases have been reported in Multan and Faisalabad and nine in Sahiwal.
