The opposition made a significant demand in the provincial assembly, calling for a judicial inquiry into the events that unfolded on May 9.

The assembly session, chaired by Deputy Speaker Zaheer Iqbal Channar, commenced after a delay of one hour and thirty-four minutes.

Opposition Leader Ahmed Khan Bachar addressed the assembly, sparking controversy by displaying a poster featuring PTI’s founding members.

The demand came a day after the Supreme Court three-member bench raised serious questions over the police and prosecution role in case related to May 9 incidents.

The top court also allowed bail to give suspects. Justice Mandokhel made important remarks during the hearing.

The action drew objections from the PML-N member Tehseen Fawad, leading to a temporary adjournment of the session amidst chanting and noise from both treasury and opposition benches.

The session, intended to approve the three-month budget, was marred by disruptions. Bachar’s call for a judicial inquiry into the May 9 incident was reiterated after the session resumed, with him also advocating for subsidies for farmers in Punjab akin to those in Balochistan.
