ISLAMABAD – The sale of cars in Pakistan witnessed an increase of 79.92 percent during the first two months (July and August) of the current financial year 2026-27 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
During the period, Pakistan witnessed the sale of 30,933 cars against the sale of 17,192 units, according to the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).
Honda Car Sales
Among major manufacturers, Honda car sales moved up by whooping 175.89 percent, rising to 5,082 units from 1,842 units during the corresponding period last year.
Toyota Car Sales
Toyota emerged ahead of Honda in car sales during the first two months of the financial year 2026-27.
During July-August 2026, sales of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris reached 7,362 units,.
The figures show that Toyota led Honda by 2,280 units in total sales during the two-month period.
LIn percentage terms, Honda therefore outpaced Toyota in year-on-year growth, but Toyota remained ahead in the total number of cars sold.
The data also showed strong sales of other models, with Suzuki Alto sales more than doubling to 12,556 units from 6,520 units.
Meanwhile, sales of the recently introduced Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle reached 123 units in July and August 2026.
On the manufacturing front, Honda recorded a substantial increase in car production during the two-month period. Output climbed to 5,614 units, compared with 2,137 units in the corresponding period, representing growth of 162.70 percent.
Production of Toyota’s Corolla and Yaris models also moved upward, reaching 7,313 units from the previous 5,098 units. Suzuki Swift production increased to 3,225 units against 2,239 units previously, marking a 44.03 percent rise.
Hyundai Elantra output grew as well, with production reaching 690 units compared with 430 units earlier. In contrast, Hyundai Sonata production fell sharply to 81 units from 226 units.
Among Suzuki models, Cultus production increased to 935 units from 699 units. Suzuki Alto also posted modest growth, with output rising to 11,551 units from 11,046 units, an increase of 4.57 percent.
According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), manufacturers produced 93 units of the newly introduced Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle during July-August 2026.
