The Punjab Bar Council on Thursday has given 24 hours ultimatum to Punjab police to register a case against Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, IG Punjab Police and others for torturing lawyers in the Independence March. The Punjab Bar Council has warned that in case of failure to register case against above said accused a contempt of court would be moved to the court concerned for further action. Office bearers of the Bar expressed these views while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
Punjab Bar Council, Vice Chairman Jaffer Tayyar said that following the decision of the Sessions Court, a case should be registered against Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, IG Punjab, and other parties. If no case is registered against those responsible, contempt of court petition will be filed.
Jaffar Tayyar further said that the lawyers targeted and tortured in the Independence March was a shameful act. On the occasion, Irfan Saeed, chairman of the executive committee of the Punjab Bar, said that the cases registered against the lawyers should be disposed off immediately.
