LAHORE – Punjab government has announced a public holiday in the provincial capital on March 11 (Saturday) in accordance with urs of Sufi saint Shah Hussain, popularly known as Madhu Madhu Lal Hussain.
In a notification, the Services and General Administration Department of the Punjab government said “It is hereby notified for the general public that a Local Holiday in Lahore District shall be observed on 11th March 2023 (Saturday), on account of Annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Madhu Lal Hussain (R.A).
The notification further reads that the holiday will be observed at the district level and its subordinated offices located in Lahore district.
The 435th annual Urs of Sufi poet Madhu Lal Hussain will start with traditional rituals at the shrine. Noted Qawals and Naat Khuwans will enthrall the devotees during the event.
Devotees from across Pakistan will come to his Urs while the provincial government has taken stringent security arrangements.
The 16th-century Sufi saint is known for his Kafis, a form of poetry is buried in Baghbanpura, an old neighborhood in Lahore. He is attributed with symbols of love and harmony between different religions.
