ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the constitution of a judicial commission to probe the rigging allegations of Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Chatha’s allegations have affirmed the party’s stance of massive riggings in the February 8 elections. Chatha resigned from his post after levelling allegations of converting the losers into winners.
Flanked by PTI’s Prime Minister candidate Omar Ayub Khan, Barrister Gohar demanded an investigation of the allegations by a judicial commission and sharing findings with the nation.
He said that the PTI was not demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice of Pakistan but probing into the allegations of Mr Chatha. He accused the Election Commission of Pakistan of stealing the PTI mandate. He claimed that the PTI has won 180 National Assembly seats including 42 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 115 in Punjab, 16 in Sindh and 4 in Balochistan. He also demanded the ECP direct returning officers (ROs) to compile Form 47 by the records of Form 45.
Omar Ayub said that the Imran-founded PTI was being cornered through illegal tactics like police raids, fake cases and threatening the party leaders and workers. He hoped that PTI would form its government in the Centre and provinces. He urged the ECP to issue notification of 180 successful PTI candidates.
