Like-minded members who left Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have announced to form a new group called ‘Democrats’ instead of joining any other party.

A meeting of like-minded members who parted ways with PTI was held under the chairmanship of Dr Murad Raas and Hashim Dogar, who were part of the cabinet in the Punjab government of Tehreek-e-Insaf, in which the name of the group was finalised.

It was decided in the meeting that the like-minded members will not make any contact or join Jahangir Khan Tareen group for now. The members will keep their separate identity as Democrats. The identity of the members joining the group will not be revealed. The group will not be registered in Election Commission of Pakistan either.

Meanwhile, two more former lawmakers on Sunday announced their decision to dissociate from the PTI, saying they would no more be involved in any politics.

One of them Chaudhry Raza Nasrullah Ghuman, MPA from Faisalabad, told reporters that there was an urgent need for a grand dialogue and no institution should interfere in others’ affairs.

Separately, Ayesha Iqbal, an MPA elected on one of the reserved seats for women, too condemned the May9 violence and said she was leaving the PTI and politics forever.

Ayesha explained that she hated violence-based politics and was ordinary party worker, adding that the party chairman wouldn’t have even any idea who she was.

Another PTI leader from Mandi Bahauddin, Qamar Khan, dealt a fresh blow to the embattled party on Sunday.

Speaking to media, Khan condemned the events that transpired on May 9, adding that the miscreants should be brought to justice. “I condemn the attacks on the military installations,” he added.

He heaped praise on the army, saying, “We stand with the army. The army is protecting the country”.
