In a protest demonstration on Sunday, civil society and human rights (HR) activists raised slogans and criticized the US President Donald Trump for ‘failing to control and contain Covid-19crisis.’
The United States administration remained busy in politicizing the issue and didn’t take meaningful steps to curb the virus in the beginning. As a result, today the US is the worst-affected country where more than 100,000 have died of coronavirus and around 2 million are infected with no letup in daily numbers, said they.
The protesters who had gathered outside the National Press Club were holding placards and banners inscribing slogans against the US President.
They demanded that Trump should be declared as international criminal who played with the lives of such big number of people.
As the major power of the world Trump should help out the world instead he kept referring to China as the initiator and creator of the virus and kept playing politics.
They demanded for suing the US government for damages over its failure to protect the lives of its citizens and those belonging to other nations.
They recalled that China did its best to contain the virus with a lockdown in Wuhan and added the country fulfilled its responsibility by informing the WHO about the pandemic and its consequences.
The rights defenders said by the time the virus reached Pakistan, the incumbent government had failed to control it.
They also called for investigation and maintained that around 400,000 people have died of Covid-19 out of around 5 million infections worldwide since its emergence, and the governments are scrambling to contain the virus while seeking ways to resuscitate their economies
The economic damage caused by the virus has led to unprecedented emergency stimulus measures by governments and central banks, and the latest came from Europe where France and Germany proposed a fund worth 500 billion euros.
