The Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) provided assistance and rehabilitated 82325 flood-affected people in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts in one year. This was revealed by Secretary Pakistan Red Crescent Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts, Zahid Jamil Lak at the Press Information Department while sharing annual report of the Pakistan Red Crescent about the provision of assistance and facilities to deserving families in the flood-affected districts of Dera and Tank during July 2022 to August 2023.
He said with the cooperation of Red Crescent and Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement partners the flood response started from village Pai of Tank and non-food items were given to 660 flood-affected families in the district. Moreover, he said financial assistance of Rs20,000 per family had been distributed among 500 families in addition to ration packages which were given to 100 families.
He said mobile health teams comprising male and female doctors were dispatched to the flood-affected areas where free examination and medicines were given to patients. Zahid Jamil Lak said that in Dera Ismail Khan prepared food was provided to the affected families after shifting them to a safe place through local trained volunteers.
He said tents, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, Jerry Kane, hygiene kits and kitchen sets were distributed among 12500 affected families besides ration packages which were doled out among 1500 households. He said a water treatment and filtration plant was installed to ensure supply of clean drinking water at the flood-hit localities.
