Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister, Saeed Ghani, expressed remorse that the Supreme Court gave special treatment to a politician who has been causing widespread destruction in the country to implement his anti-state agenda. Speaking at a press conference here at the Sindh Assembly building on Friday, Ghani said that relief and special treatment extended to Imran Khan by the Supreme Court had been unprecedented in the judicial history of the country.
He said that never before the Supreme Court had expressed pleasure at the appearance of an accused person as was the case the previous day.He said the imprisoned PPP leaders in the past had never received such privileged treatment as was given to the PTI Chairman by the apex judiciary.
He said that Imran Khan had received such privileged treatment despite his involvement in violent agitation in the country for the past three days.He lamented that the incumbent Chief Justice of Pakistan had opted to please his family while deciding the cases concerning the PTI Chairman with no regard for the country.
He mentioned that the Supreme Court ordering the release of a politician involved in widespread violence and destruction in the country had proved that it acted upon the desire of the family of the incumbent CJP instead of following the law of the land.He said it seemed to him that the incumbent CJP acted under the influence of his mother-in-law, wife, and daughter. He said that earlier only the Taliban had caused such widespread destruction in the country, as was the case of the latest violent agitation by the PTI in the country.
He told journalists that the followers of Imran Khan had no idea that they bent upon destroying the country and its institutions. He said that no political party could think of causing so much destruction in the country as was done by the PTI in the past three daysGhani told media persons a proposal could be considered to impose a ban on the PTI if it had terrorist tendencies.
He said that with 155 members in the soon-to-be-formed City Council the Pakistan People’s Party was sure to get its nominee elected as the next mayor of Karachi, Ghani said that at present PPP candidates had secured to success in 104 union committees in Karachi.
He said the number of the PPP’s members would increase to 155 after the election against the reserved seats in the City Council. He said that a political party was required to have minimum of 184 members in the council for getting its nominee elected as the city’s mayor. He said that this requirement would come down to 183 if Firdous Shamim Naqvi of the PTI decided to vacate his seat in the council.
He said the 14 council members belonging to Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and four members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam would support PPP’s candidate for the mayoral seat.Ghani, who is also PPP Karachi President, hoped that the council members of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan would also support the PPP in the mayoral election.
He predicted that the chairmen of several UCs in Karachi would also support PPP in the mayoral poll for the continuity of the development works in Karachi. He told media persons that the Chairman of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, would address a public meeting on II Chundrigar Road on Saturday (today).
