Police’s crackdown against electricity theft entinues

On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police’s crackdown against the culprits involved in electricity theft is continuing without interruption, and in this regard, the Punjab Police has released the details of the operations during this year. According to the details, this year, Punjab Police registered 67244 cases against electricity thieves across the province including Lahore, 38707 accused have been arrested and legal action has been taken against them.

Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that in the month of September, the crackdown against electricity thieves was accelerated on the instructions of the government and after September 7, 48687 cases were registered and 23 thousand 460 accused were arrested. Regarding the operations that took place during the last one week, the spokesman of Punjab Police briefed that 2290 cases were registered and 169 accused were arrested, while 02 accused were arrested after registering 358 cases of electricity theft across the province on previous day. Dr. Usman Anwar, while ordering indiscriminate action against the elements involved in electricity theft, said that the accused who steal or damage the national treasury in any way do not deserve any mercy, strict actions should be continued against such accused on regular basis.
