Police kills Canadian journalist assassin

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Wednesday claimed to have gunned down a militant of the defunct Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan who was wanted in the murder of a Canadian Journalist Beverly Giesbrecht. Ameen Shah, was reported killed in an encounter with the force police in Bannu. “The alleged mastermind of the kidnapping and murder of a Canadian lady journalist Khadija Abdul Qahar, 55, who was known as Beverly Giesbrecht before she converted to Islam, was killed in a clash with police”. KP Police Chief Sanaullah Abbasi on Wednesday.
Giving details Sanaullah Abbasi said that Ameen Shah had kidnapped the converted Muslim journalist Khadija Abdul Qahar in 2008, and later killed her in 2010. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), KP Police Chief said, had demanded dollars 2 million as ransom for the release of journalist Giesbrecht. Abbasi said that Ameen Shah was killed in an exchange of fire after he refused to surrender in Bannu district adding Shah was also wanted by police in several other cases of terrorism.
