The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to leave one of the three National Assembly constituencies in Islamabad (NA-47) vacant for former Health minister and ex-Secretary General of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Aamir Mehmood Kiani under a seat adjustment.
In Rawalpindi Division too, seat adjustment has been made with another former Minister of the PTI government Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar on Taxila’s NA-54. There too, the PML-N is not fielding any candidate leaving the ground open for the veteran politician. Bothe of them are contesting elections as independent candidates.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar is one of those former cabinet members who used foul language against Nawaz Sharif when the latter was in London for medical treatment.
This adjustment with former ministers of the arch rival party has created bad blood among the party workers as well as the aspirant candidates.
From Islamabad’s two other constituencies, NA-46 and NA-48, the PML-N has awarded tickets to Anjum Aqeel Khan and Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry respectively.
Both of them are considered loyal workers of the party and have served as Members of the National Assembly (MNA) in the past from Islamabad, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry even a federal minister.
Chairman of the Central Election Cell and former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced ticket holders’ names on the social media website ‘X’ (formerly twitter) and wished glorious victory to both of these candidates.
From other constituencies of Rawalpindi Division, the PML-N has awarded tickets to its loyal workers including Raja Osama Sarwar from NA-51, Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlas from NA-52, Raja Qamarul Islam NA-53, Malik Abrar Ahmad NA-55, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi NA-56, Daniyal Chaudhary NA-57, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed NA-49 (Attock), Malik Sohail Khan NA-50, Major (R) Tahir Iqbal NA-58 (Chakwal) and Sardar Ghulam Abbas from NA-59 (Talagang).
