ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz will meet President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House amid ongoing talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The sources said that it would be an important meeting between both the leaders.

They said PM Shehbaz would meet President Asif Ali Zardari at 5:30pm today. They said that country’s political and economic situation would be discussed during the meeting.

On the other hand, the government and the PTI started holding talks at the Parliament House. The first round of talks has come to an end.

“It was the first meeting between the government and the opposition,” said NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, adding that the atmosphere was good and there is possibility of positive result to address the problems.

The meeting, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, comprised seven members from the government and three members from PTI.

The efforts are underway to thaw the political ice between the government and opposition.

The sources said that the next meeting between both sides would be held now on January 2, 2025. The PTI leadership also termed the meeting a good start. The PTI leaders started their own consultation on the talks with the government.
