ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday formed a high-level committee comprising parliamentarians of the PML-N and coalition partners to hold negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Abdul Aleem Khan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar and Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will hold talks with the major opposition party amid threats of civil disobedience.

PTI founding chairman has already constituted a committee comprising senior party leaders to engage with the government.

According to the media reports, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz sadiq played a key role to bring the treasury and the opposition on the negotiation table. The parliamentary committee will be entrusted with full authority to take decisions regarding government-opposition discussions.

The PTI has warned starting protest on Sunday. The government side insisted that talks cannot proceed under the threat of civil disobedience or deadlines.
